Project

Energy usage is becoming an increasingly important aspect in today’s world. Energy costs are
increasing, a trend that will surely continue. The International Energy Agency estimates that
existing building are responsible for more than 40 percentage of world’s total primary energy
consumption and up to 30 percentage of global greenhouse gas emission and consume 20 percentof world’s available water . For this reason, energy efficiency in buildings is today a prime objective for energy policy at regional, national and international levels. Most of the energy is wasted due to improper design of the buildings at the beginning stage itself, without considering energy
conserving strategies. This project analyses the role of simulation tools mainly Autodesk Green
Building Studio and Vasari in analysing the energy consumption in the buildings and how can
minimize it with various design alternatives. As a case study conceptual energy analysis of mechanical department was done and various
design alternatives were explored and the best design alternative was found to 4% more energy
efficient. However one can do the detailed analysis to get maximum results from these tools.
